Will an amp from a 2700 work in a 2800 Wurlitzer?

Will an amp from a 2700 work in a 2800 Wurlitzer?

Does anyone know if a amp from a 2700 will work in a 2800 Wurlitzer? The amps look the same. Also, This 2810 does not have a control box on floor of unit. Instead, they have the "junction" cable plugged into the amp socket marked JUNCTION. When the cable in plugged into the 544 amp and the unit is turned on, lights work and turntable runs all the time, but cannot cancel or select. Amp side seems to work, but seems like a power supply issue.

Back in the 80's I had the models you mention but never at the same time.

Here are some resources:

http://dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/wurlitzer/ Wurlitzer group

http://www.verntisdale.com/Wurlitzerschem.htm Wurlitzer schematics.

The 2700 series was the first to use an AC changer motor and newer design pickup.

The new AC motor had a more delicate gear box and due to the excessive stresses involved in pulling down the record lift arms the gears did 'strip" leaving the motor turning but not doing anything.

Things to check:

1) Is that changer motor turning?

2) Are any selection pins up.

3) Check status of fuses.

4) Is the turntable pilot fully retracted into the turntable? If so and no pins are up there should be no action.

Download the schematics for the amps and look at the power supply sections.

Thanks for your response. The changer motor only turns manually. Some selection pins are up, but they were that way when delivered. Fuses all check good. The pilot appears to be retracted but the turntable motor continues to run. The lift arms are both up into the records carrier...which I know is not normal. If I pull them down manually the carrier will not turn when lever is in position that should allow loading records
