I have a:
Victrola RCA Victor
Model PM-17
RVG 007091
150 Watts

It is a beautiful piece of furniture - in very good condition - but player doesn't work.

I believe it is from the 50's - 60's

Can anyone tell me anything about it & who I should take it to get in working order - I know next to nothing about these playersw.

Thanks
Ray

I could do a lot better if I knew the turntable model, not the chassis or set model number. Most RCA turntables have an RP number (the letters RP, followed by a dash and a 3-digit number).

The problem is most likely the rubber drive wheel. Over time, the rubber either rots away or turns hard and slick. Then the motor spins without driving the turntable.

If the wheel is hard, you can get Caig CaiKleen RBR rubber restorer at most radio-servicing-supply houses. It will soften the rubber enough that the wheel will work again, provided it has not cracked or broken apart.
