Rock-ola 488 mechinism board issue

by toomer7074 » Sun Oct 20, 2013 6:39 pm

Hello all
I am having an issue with my Rock-ola 488.
Everything is fine until the record rejects then the K 302 reverse relay on the mechanism power board will continually start clicking on and off, cutting power to the transfer motor when it clicks off. it does this about once a second. I first assumed that the relay or the mechanism power board was faulty so I switched the board from my Rock-ola 478 and the clicking relay is still there and the 488 board works good in the 478. Both boards are the same no. 52245-a. this only happens when the record is taken off the turntable and not when it is placed on. I unplugged the transfer motor and the clicking is still there. I also unplugged all the boards and cleaned the connections on the jukebox. would a logic board or something else cause this to happen.
Thanks

Mike,
Just a guess, on-accounta I dono--sounds more like a MicroSwitch, that' adjusted right on the "margin".

Thanks for your reply Ron. After a about three hours of troubleshooting and swapping out parts the jukebox is fixed :D
I checked all the microswitches and the aliment and the cancel switch in both the mech and the amp, then switched out the mechanism and then the power supply regulator boards, and then finally the power supply and the jukebox started working. I'm not sure why the power supply ran everything but the K 302 reverse relay but the magazine and gripper motors run faster with the new power supply installed Thanks again.

Hi Toomer,
Glad you found it--if that's the 28 volt supply, I suspect the filter on it is bad--or "going bad"----
