Seeburg SMC1 disco question

First time with one of these . At first it worked . Had trouble getting the #2 button to work unless i pushed it hard . Unplugged it in the middle of playing a record and went on about my day .
When i plugged it back in it put the record back , scanned once & stopped .

Problem now .. # 1 and 2 buttons wont do anything . #3 button now selects #1 so if i push the #3 button 3 times it will play selection 111 . Before i do anymore can someone lead me to the problem ?

Hi Ken,
As far as I'm concerned, there is only one short answer--The MCU's Seeburg used were crap ! Answer to that problem today is easy--toss it, and purchase a new, Gen 2, replacement MCU that I build, and sell. The new Gen 2 replaces everything inside the metal MCU case, except the mounting studs. It requires NO batteries and is programmable to do everything the old one was supposed to do, plus some "new tricks", just by using the keyboard and service switches. PM me if interested, or get out a schematic, hope it is NEAR correct, and start "trouble-shootin'". Ron Rich

Hi Ken,
Sure---the new MCU uses one board to replace all three of the old MCU boards. Two "chips" replace about 40.
It eliminates the need for batteries, of any kind
It has an adjustable brightness control for the display.
The keyboard and the CPA switches are used for ALL program changes--really fast--no soldering needed !
There is a (settable) TRUE free play mode---
There is an available, settable, "random auto play" mode that is also time (between selections) settable--
Auto play settable to play A sides, or B sides, or both sides of records
Also settable to retain selections, or remove selections made previously, at power up.
Settable to remove or retain credits, made previously, at power up.
Motor save circuit ( kills motor power if it does not see "detent switch" movement in 9.4 minutes).
Diagnostic mode testing available.
And the "Best thing",IMHO, IT WORKS--really well ! ( A fact that I'm proud of--it WAZ a lot of work in testing/design ! and to be honest--it's a lot of work to hand build them)
