I'm a newbie here and I've been enjoying my Rockola 444 trouble free for a month or 2 when I started having issues with the write-in arms continually spinning. I decided to give everything a good cleaning with contact cleaner and a fine burnishing file. While cleaning switch contacts on the underside of the selection buttons, a problem developed (I didn't realize I still had the machine plugged in ). I bumped something and the lock bar solenoid disengaged. When I turn on the juke, this always engages. I checked the 25 VAC (3 Amp) fuse and found it was blown. I replaced the fuse, but now the lock bar solenoid will not energize. I've rechecked all the fuses several times as I've been troubleshooting and they have all been fine now. I've been reading through my manual and I can't seem to find the problem. I checked for voltage coming into the lock bar solenoid and found none. The coin system has been removed, the accumulator in the credit unit is maxed out and the check-off relay has been removed (I believe this how this unit is kept in free play mode). I'm not real experienced with electrical schematic reading but I don't see anything in-line with the lock bar solenoid that is not in the correct position to energize the solinoid. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Josh,
You are going to need to get out the schematic, and follow the path to the latch solenoid--start at the transformer and follow both sides--I think you'll find an open set of contacts, somewhere along the line--possibly "pitted/burned"--. Since you were into it--I would guess these contacts are in the keyboard ??

Check the contacts on the credit switch which light the select light and route the power to the solenoid, and for loose plug connections

Thanks, I'll give a deeper look over the whole schematic again and check all of the connections. I'll report back when i get it done. Now I just wish I didn't have to be at work today... I'd rather be working on the rockola!

Does your juke have a RESET button on the keyboard? If so, the lock-bar power is usually routed thru that switch. Ray

It certainly is on this model. I definantly need to check that thing when I get home. When I looked at my schematic at lunch time today, I realized I hadn't checked that one yet .

Well. I went through the entire lock bar solenoid circuit and checked for continuity through each wire and each switch. Narrowed it down to the 3 amp, 25 VAC fuse. Pulled it out and checked it again, it's burnt out. Replaced it and now it works. The filiment wasn't visually broken so I guess I had it setting on a metal chair when I tested it last time, or something? Dang
