I replaced the oil filled capacitor in the auto speed unit. The machine functions very well now. It is set to free play. After a few plays the select light goes out and i can hear a fairly loud hum [not sure of the source] and turning the power off seems to reset the free play again. I noticed when replacing the capacitor that what appears to be a transformer [ very near to the center of the auto speed unit ] is all sticky and has spread out and gummed up some of the wires near the transformer. Do i need to replace this particular item and if i do what part number do i order. It has S406 stenciled on it as well as other components in the speed unit. I intend to give this machine to a co-worker and would like to think it might function for a few years to come. Any thoughts about the source of the free play light and the buzzing sound and a possible part replacement to cure that. One more thing. The cancel button on the back has no effect on the record that is playing. All in all it is a great looking and sounding juke.

Denny, that sort of thing is caused by poor contacts in the credit unit or a binding solenoid in that unit.

The cancel button is probably not connected. This was done to prevent fights if someone figured out how to reject someone's song that they didn't like. Just trace the two wires back.
