357,578. Gramophones. GINN, E. M., and PHILLIPS, D., Ingerthorpe, Great North Road, Highgate. June 19, 1930, No. 18771. [Class 40 (ii).] A gramophone of the external horn type has a sound conduit b<2>, b, b<1> leading down from the tonearm bearing in the motorboard, passing through a side of the cabinet at a point remote from the tonearm bearing, and then extending upwardly to an outlet above the level of the motorboard. In the construction shown, the tone-arm bearing (shown separately in Fig. 4) is located near a front corner of the motor-board, and the conduit, which is made in sections joined together, passes through the rear wall a at an inclination thereto. The horn proper (not shown) preferably has a pivotal connection to the sound conduit, and may extend over the top of the instrument. Preferablv the sound conduit and horn are of exponential form, and the tone-arm b<3> is of the goose-neck type, having the goose-neck c screw-threaded into the T-piece of the tone-arm. --
