Seeburg USC2 - Won't Play Side A

My Seeburg seems to work just fine when I choose B side, but it just scans incessantly when I choose a "100" song. Another thing I noticed is that the "2" in the first digit is always on - whether I choose a "100" song or a "200" song. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi Robert,
Do you have a Service Manual ? Do you have a copy of my mechanism, or trouble shooting guides ?
If you have the Service Manual, look at the "Tormat memory Unit position" starting on page 19. Most likely, the read out arm for the "A" sides is not contacting the TMU, or the connecting wire is broken. The selection playing lamp will show "2" until the cradle shifts to play an A side-- that's normal--

Can I add one piece to get clarification on with this topic?
Just because all the selection numbers light up as the mech scans up and down does not [necessarily] mean both leafs are hitting the read-in and write-out contacts on the TMU - correct?

You are confusing things--on a model USC-2 the numbers that show the selection playing are controlled by two contacts that ride on the "contact block" located above the record rack--The "side #1". or #" 2", shown on the display, is done by the switch along side the audio pick-up frame that holds the tone arm, and changes only as the arm shifts side to side, going into play position. It will remain in either position until it is switched at the beginning of play.
There is NO "write-in" function on the mechanism (except inside the DRD-1). "Read-out" (on this model) is accomplished by using the mechanical "fingers" located under the TMU. Ron Rich
