Could Anyone tell me the year my newly acquired RCA Victrolla Stereo Console was made or sold ? The Model Console is on the back VJT-50-W RVN-7353 Serial # 73720213
The seller told me he thought his mother bought it in the 60's.
I also need a place to send the electronics.I can not get the AM/FM Tuner to come on or light up.The Turntable operates but the Amp/Tuner is completely dead.
Is there a fuse? I like to tinker around with some electronics but this seams to point to a Pro that knows this stuff.
Any information on how I might proceed would be very much appreciated.

As a professional restorer of vintage electronics, I have to say that set will need a thorough going-over, as well as the record changer. (cleaning, needle, fresh lubricants.)

I've done way too many RCA Victors to know that they do sound great when serviced properly, their reliability is the same too.
It's definitely a late-60's unit, and they all share the same common issues due to aging. (bad capacitors mostly)

If shipping, removal of the components is fairly easy.
A 1/4 inch hex nut driver is best on the screws involved.
A ton of screws along the back panel....

Unplug all connectors from the tuner, incuding the power transformer (if seperate) - noting the orientation of each plug/connector for re-installation.

The tape input connector is held by 2 hex screws too.

The two changer retaining bolts (flat blade screwdriver) are located under the platter - carefully lifting the edge of the rubber platter mat will reveal large access holes(quarter-sized) - rotate these to line up the bolts located front & rear under the platter and remove them through the holes.
Make sure the cables are unplugged from the tuner.
There is a small hole on the arm rest post to slip a twist tie though, or stiff wire - holding the arm in place for shipping to avoid damage.

The tuner removal - knobs pulled off, lift the edges of the control panel/dial and pull up, un-snap it carefully.
There will be 4 (hex) screws now exposed in the corners of the tuner chassis, these come out, and the tuner chassis lifts right out of the cabinet.
If this model has a power transformer seperate, it must be removed as well and sent along with the other parts.
If this model has a seperate amp chassis on the bottom, that will also need to be removed.

Speakers rarely go bad on these units, avoid damaging them.

And there ya have it.

I know this post is way old, but any chance anyone knows the needle for the turntable in this model? I just picked one up. Works great, looks great. Didn't have a needle.
