Hi,
I’ve recently inherited a Rowe AMI R-88 from an uncle but it isn’t working, as soon as it powers on it continually transfers vinyl’s in and out of the magazine also the Mag Motor and Tran Motor LED’s are continually lit but the detent is still locked. After lots of trawling through forums most people point to the processor chip, i was hoping there might be another possibility? as trying to find a replacement 6-08870-06 Computer board is like hens teeth! and the very few i have found arent cheap!

Any help is much appriciated.

Thanks

Hello Ky3mr2,

Sorry for the handle above but you have not left your name.

Yes these boards are in short supply and at times the custom chip can be at fault but happly not very often, it is down to faults on the other components or just dry joints.

There are members of the forum in the USA that repair these boards and myself in the UK offering repairs in Europe and worldwide if required.

I usually ask customers to send in the following boards which I test as a set of boards (this makes sure that you would not get additional faults being all the boards would be checked for dry joints/cold joints in the USA)

CCC
Mechanism control Board
Pricing Board

Contact me off list if you are in Europe.

If it turns out the computer chip in the Central control Computer is bad, there is a retrofit board that replaces that chip:

Granted, you'd have to do some soldering/unsoldering.

Or if you are not good with soldering, I would suggest shipping the board out for repair.
