Unidentified Jukebox?

by ds100h » Thu Nov 07, 2013 1:26 am

Recently I seen a jukeox that had a carousel that has 8/10 slides that would project an image (I assume record covers or whatever slide you put in it) on the back dome glass of a chest type 7 inch 45 RPM jkebox. I could not find any identity one the box and the owner had no idea what make or year it was.

If anyone has seen on of these, please fill me in on what brand and year it may be, it looked 1970'ish?

Darrell,
Did you look at the cabinet rear--should have an I D tag there--if "missing" look inside, see if you can find any component with a name/number on it--

Rowe had a couple jukes that had slide projectors in them. I am not sure of the #s, they were something like cadet MM1... and maybe an MM one or two... one had the screen in the center over the keyboard and one of them had the screen on the left end of the keyboard. Hope this helps, I believe other companies had projectors too.

I looked inside and on the back and no ID. The box is now 150 miles away. The other boxes this individual had were all Rowe units. I think the Rowe MM series with the screen on the left sounds like the correct unit.

Thanks all for the ideas.

Rowe models MM2, MM3, and MM4 had the slide projectors in them. We had several on the route back in the day.

I concur with Ken the re RoweVue slide system was used on the 1968 MM-2, 1969 MM-3 and 1970 MM-4.
Also during this time in the late 60's early 70's Rowe Ami also did the Phono Vue system that used Super 8mm films ( Magi-Cartridges) on a 14 inch x 23inch screen, I can remember a couple of pubs in Sheffield that had these in my late teens.

Hi Ron,

Wrong Question, what you should have asked what was I doing in pubs at the age of 15/16 when the most expensive brew on tap was Worthington E at one shilling and 7 old pence with bitter at 1 and 3 and larger at 1 and 5.

By my 18th birthday (legal to go into pubs in those days and buy drinks unlike your 21, I think) I had been going into the local for well over two years, this was the place to see bands in those days.

Regards
Alan

Alan,
I am "fortunate" enough that I was in a place where it was legal for an 18 year old to drink--at that time-
could not vote--but, if the location owner allowed it, could ( and did) drink. Things sure changed--today an 18 year old can vote, but not drink-- ??? Ron Rich

That's the trouble with things today - young, stupid, unknowledgable kids allowed to vote.
But, I digress. ;-(
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

Matt,
Not sure it's you who is "die-gressing" here--IMHO, it's (unfortunately) this country--or maybe the world ??
