Like many I've used Mike's Arcade, for my title strips for years.

I've been very grateful for this free facility, but I'm always anxious about what I would do, if one day it disappeared.

In the past I've looked at buying a title card maker, but they always seemed expensive.

But a few weeks ago I saw this one on eBay and bought it.

It worked out at under eleven quid including postage from the USA and there's no end of options.

It centres your script as you type.

As it gives you a pro forma in "Word" you can choose any of the varieties of type faces Word offers you. If the title is too long for the box, you can change the point size, rather than having it all squeezed in with thin letters.

And within the type face you can change the colour of the background behind the words and the colour of the type.

Because of the double thickness of the dividing lines between the cards and between the two rows of titles, you can get a clean edge to each.

Once you've downloaded the CD, you can leave a shortcut on your desktop.

I've now got my third iPod programmed with another 160 titles and I've got a working spare title card magazine, for my two wall boxes. It's just a question of swopping over the magazines and iPods from either, a one minute job at most.
My problem is now that I've so many options for title cards, I can't make up my mind which ones to use.

I have been using that program and it does have many different templates, but what I'd like to find is one that would print titles from my digital inventory rather than typing them in one at a time. I looked at the one at Always Jukin' and it looked about right, even pages for jukebox data, except that there was no import tool to retrieve my files from Excel. Now if I'd used Access and made a real database it would work, but I'm in too deep by now. Anybody familiar with one that would do this?

LowProfile's software "JukeBox" is both for printing and archiving the record collection.

When I purchased the first version of this software many years ago, I imported a dbf file. This was made from my Excel sheet if I recall right.
Since then the softaware changed completely but I guess it's possible today too.

It's a bit churlish of me to "nit-pick" a free programme, but I find that despite the facility the "centering" of the titles by the Arcade software, I have to put extra spaces at both ends of long titles, or they can end up too near near the edges.
Also where there are two artists sharing the same title card, I put three extra spaces at the end of the "A" side name and three at the beginning of the "B" side name, to get a bit of a gap either side of the "slash." I also find the labels print slightly on the narrow side, so I increase the size by about 7% to get a better fit.
But that just might be the way my printer reads the page. Though I do set it as per the instructions.
