I see jukebox suppliers offering 1-mil Cobra cartridges, can anyone tell me what luck they've had with any of them being both decent and consistant? I do understand that they're no good for stereo records.

I have purchased several of the .07( red/green) ones from needles 4 jukeboxes.com--all have been great--and will play both mono and stereo records ( altho not in stereo! ). I ASSUME the 1 mil red ones, will also be OK ?? Ron Rich

Those cobra cartridges IMO are record chewers.
I'd never play anything with them.
Better to re-do the amp input for a nice ceramic P51, TN4/8 or something.

I did away with the cobra in my Wurlitzer 2150 years ago, but I have an early 1950s Zenith Cobramatic phonograph to restore which I would like to keep original. $70 sure is a lot of dough for a cartridge with a non-replaceable stylus, and I really wanted a 1-mil tip for LPs. Also getting a 3-mil for 78s also would bring the cost to $140 !

Yes-it is somewhat expensive--but, I would much rather pay for good quality, then purchase "cheap crap" !
I am thankful for those that will produce, low volume selling items. I produce one myself, and would LOVE to sell it for "less"--but just cannot do so--

I have had 100% success 're-tipping' ( remove & replace just the needle tip ) on these cobras that are still good otherwise . I have done several . This way you can choose the type needle you need and avoid paying 70$ .

Ken, do you glue or solder the tip?
