Hi everyone. I'm new here but was recommended to visit here by Ken Layton.

I have a rock-ola 488 I just finished fixing up and running great, sounds great but am having one small issue. The jukebox picks up the record from the carousel and plays the record without any issue but for some reason when it's done playing, the mechanism does not grab the record and place it back where it belongs. Is there a simple adjustment for this?

The gripper mechanism would need lubrication, if you lubricate especially the inner mechanism where spring is located and play a side records and hold the gripper arm down for a few seconds when the record is finished and do likewise with the b sides, this should solve it, don't hold it for too long or it will trip a breaker or blow a fuse

Thank you. I will give that a try. Do you have a particular type of lubricant that I should use?

the lubricant usually mentioned in the forum is SAE 20 wt Non detergent oil

Hint: --re-oil it in a few hours--and "play the heck out of it"--re-oiling often, for the next few daze ( or it WILL, bind, again !) . Ron Rich
