AMI D-80 Cabinet Finish

by joedol » Fri May 08, 2015 9:34 pm

I just started restoring a D-80 and was looking at a lot of them I could find on the net and didn't see a finish like mine.
The manual I have says it comes in BLEACHWOOD BISQUE or DEMITAQSSE MAQHOGANY but mine is black with red and silver sparkles in it.
The coin mechanism box is also the same color
Anyone ever seen one this color?
Any idea where I can get the paint the manual lists?

Hi joedol,

As you rightly say the two cabinets on the model D Ami should have been Bleachwood Bisque ( a lighter wood finish) or Demitasse Mahagany.

The Model G had various painted finishes:-
Delft Blue, Cherry Red, Emberred Charcoal, Chartreuse Green, Bright Sand, Canary Yellow, Atoll Coral and Night-Sky Black

I feel that your jukebox may have been painted with the Night-Sky Black.
The red & white flecks do look like stars.

Regards
Alan

The finish is all messed up and has to be redone. I have no idea how I could uniformly get those specks back on a finish.
Guess I'll see if I can find one of the original colors and go with it.
Thanks for the reply.
