Edison DD advice...

by Phonophan79 » Mon Nov 05, 2007 9:19 pm

Greetings all -

This Edison C-200 "Adam" is the latest addition to my collection. :-)

Two questions...

1) It did not come with a cabinet key. Does anyone know what key works with this unit? ...or better yet is anyone selling one? :P

2) What can I do in terms of grill cloth. Aside from "getting fabric"... are there any phono related sites for this?

Thanks!

That would have come with gold dolphin head key. They are approx. 2 1/2 inches long and are on Ebay quite often.

That's right! Check out this link- it shows the different keys used for different edison models, as well as the keys used by many other companies.

Phonophan,

I think most Edisons originally had gold/copper-ish silk. My H-19 is greenish on the out side-faded(?) and more gold-ish inside. I don't know if mine is original, it has been re-tacked at some point You could try some fabric stores or look at speaker cloth:
Antique Radio Grille Cloth

APSCO has cloth for Orthophonic grills that may not be to out of place as well as a black cloth supplied with Amberola 30 grilles.
APSCO

I would look into the silk first though. Hope this helps a bit.

Regards,
J.
