A bit of advice needed for my RO 470...

My RO 470 was working great since my last request, and I could even use my remote wall box for volume etc. ...
Just one thing : sometimes there was a little "tingle" when I touched the juke, but to me that was just coz it was not earthed.
Now last weekend my kid wanted to adjust volume, using the remote wallbox and got a bit of more than just a "tingle"...
The RO 470 went out & will not play eversince

I mean : when I plug it in it will make a short woofer sound, but no lights are coming up and the juke does nothing.
I checked all fuses (they're OK) and tried searching my manual but I can't find a solution....
Anyone got some advice ?

There is a lot to be said for double wound transformers, a good earth and earth leakage breakers in your distribution board.

Hi George,

I guess that your Gfci outlets are more or less the same as our earth leakage sockets but working on half the voltage.
If you want to just provide a protected socket in one area we would use an earth leakage socket or an adaptor.
To cover all the sockets in an house we would use earth leakage circuit breakers (sometimes called residual current breakers)for zones in an installation. On good installations we have split distribution boards with earth leakage protection on both of the main breakers.
In the uk the only outlet allowed in an bathroom is a shaver outlet and that incorporates a double wound transformer. These outlets are used for shavers and tooth brushes.

I agree you can never be too safe with children or the elderly, a load of 60 watts is more than enough to kill.

Yep guys,

I know about the dangers of electricity....
My house is fitted with a 300mA RCCB on all circuits, and even 30mA in "humid" rooms, but that's not the issue
It's just that the RO 470 is out for some reason.
When the problem occured the RCCB went out, so I put that back on.
When I plug the RO 470 in and hit the ON switch, the woofer says "woof", but the lights nor the rest is doing anything.
The RCCB is staying on too, thus the problem must be in the juke...
All fuses I know are OK so I am looking for another solution.
Anyone can set me on the way ?

BTW : I found out that the connection cable of my RO 470 is 2 wire (black & blue or live & neutral) so there's not even room for the 3th earthing wire (yellow/green)

Maybe one or more of the fluorescent lamp ballasts in the jukebox are going bad. Developing an electrical "leak" to ground.

I am assuming your power cord on the jukebox is not missing the ground prong?

Some fuse must have been blown, but I can't find it. The manual is no help either
If I put power on, I still hear a "woof" sound, but for the rest the juke isn't doing anything....

Any advice please ?

If your phonograph has blown a fuse ( which would be my guess too), there is only one thing that can be done--
Get out the schematic, and a meter and find the "fault", before replacing the fuse. That fuse may have save a life ! Do not "mess with it", unless you are qualified, or you might put someone in danger. 99% of the time fuses ( or circuit breakers) "blow" for a reason--it's rare that replacing the fuse cures the problem-- Ron Rich
