Rock-ola 496

having a problem with my rockola 496. When i select a 100 series record, the magazine turns and the display cycles through the 200 series and then stops. The only way to play a record is to choose 200, 201, 202, etc.
Cannot get 100, 101, 102 selections to play. Any ideas. Thanks

I don't know that model number. Things to check depend on whether the selector is electromechanical or electronic:

Electromechanical selector checks:

- The selection entry unit is not making the selection tab move (a second solenoid was used for flip sides - 200 series). Check the solenoid wiring and driving circuit, and the solenoid mounting screws.

- The stop sensor is not detecting a moved out tab. Check the carriage stopping switches. You should be able to see the tabs on the magazine. If a number of them are extended, this is the trouble. The most likely causes are a bad switch and loose mounting screws.

- One other possibility is a bent reset tab, which resets the selection tab too soon (before the record is played).

Electronic selector checks:

You have lost a bit somewhere between the selection panel and the record carriage. I would bet it is after the memory. If it were before the memory, it would play the wrong selection, not no selection.
