Rowe AMI 1971?. Selector Buttons

by foothill » Tue Mar 10, 2009 9:27 pm

Hello,
I have a Rowe AMI jukebox. i think its from 1971... I dont have a manual for it and i cant seem to find the model # for it either... First I was wondering where i can find that information. Also I probably need that information for my next question but i will ask it anyway... Ok i have this Jukebox and for some reason the selector buttons wont work. Like when you turn it on the lights go on but the Record holder wont spin. It hasnt been plugged in about a year and when i plugged it it it played 3 songs (must have been left over from the previous time) and then i tried to play more and the selector buttons wont stick. :( ... Also i tried putting coins in it and that didnt work either. (somehow when we got it the previous owner rigged it with a rubberband so we didnt have to put coins in it, the rubberband fell off and maybe thats why it wont work....) I really appreciate your help! Thanks so much- Anie

Anie,
As you suspected, not much can be done without a model number. There should be an "ID tag" on the rear outside of the cabinet. Some of the later RoweAMi's have a duplicate inside the cabinet, on the LH side of the cabinet above the amplifier area. There are several web sites with photo's--one is "tom's zone", which should help you ID it. After you have done so, a repro manual can be purchased from www.alwaysjukin.com and others--Ron Rich

Hi Anie,

If you can discribe the jukebox then I can probably tell you what the model type is but of this era there were a number of different trims so hence different names.
The 1971 200 selection MM-5 President Line came in the following names:-
New Orleans,Californian,Tiffany, Beauty, Cathedral and Playgirl.
The 1972 200 selection MM-6 Superstar came in the following names:-
Lavender Ladies, Bourbon Street, Silver Sage and Monterey.

Is the jukebox a 100, 120,160 or 200 selections?
Are the selection buttons in a straight line?
Are the buttons in three horizontal lines@
Are the buttons in three vertical lines?
Are the buttons just numbers 1 to 9?
Is the title glass flat or on a slope?
