Seeburg Electra and Rockola Ultra (437) Newbie Help

by livingthepast » Tue Oct 16, 2012 2:02 am

Hello all,

Brand new to the forums. Techie from a while back but need to admit ignorance and ask for help. Had my Rockola Utlra for a few years now. The amp is only putting out one channel and I assume it needs to be rebuilt. Works well in mono setting. It is also developing an issue when I make a selection the record "wheel" clicks and moves about a 1/4 inch and then stops. This will happen three times and then rotate all the way back to neutral. If I engage a selection directly from the selector wheel inside the box, it works fine.

Second. Just picked up the Seeburg Electra. It looks and works great, but the bass and treble are terrible! Way too much bass and treble is either too much or too litte. I've played with the 3 way switches and while they do make a difference, the bass is just overbearing. Based on what I've research on the board, it sounds like the caps?

Ok, so I've dabled with solder ad fixing old radios so I'm not too scared of doing a cap replacement. Any advice out there?
Where can I get the schematics?

How do I clean both boxes? The Rockola, while it works, looks like it belonged to the Marlboro Man - inside and out. The Seeburg looks good outside, but inside and especially in the amps/etc it has heavy nicotine film. The turntable and gears are also coated.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I appreciate your patience with such basic questions.

Brian
