I have a Continental 2 speaker crossover with 3 - 35 mF +/- motor start capacitors and a 2.5 mF wax capacitor on it.
I have replaced all the caps twice as the sound began to break up after a minute of play or so. Both times it solved the issue but recently it has returned.
It's a pain taking it all apart just to get at this crossover so I thought I'd ask first this time.
Is there something that might cause this to happen so often in the amplifier?
It can't be bad new caps twice as I used motor start caps the first time and second time I twisted together two high voltage electrolytics to make non polar caps.
Also, what would be the recommended "best choice" capacitor to use in this circuit?

Mauro, crossover caps rarely cause any problems. If the output from the woofer was becoming intermittent this would be caused by poor solder connections or failing voice coil connections.

The woofer is connected through a choke (if that). If it is a 12bd/octave there is also a cap in the woofer ckt but it's failure does not open the circuit.

Try connecting an external speaker to the amp so as to rule out failure there. Otherwise it is bad connections in the speaker circuit which get temporarily cured when they are disturbed for your work on the crossover.
