More visitors?

by Marcel » Sat Oct 13, 2007 8:04 am

Recently we started paid advertising to attract more visitors. But I am wondering if you, forum members, have any suggestions where we can promote this forum even better? Our number of visitors is still growing slowly, which is ofcourse great. But I have put in so much work, I would really like to try and get the forum being more active. Maybe your suggestions can help! Perhaps you know places on the web for example where I can submit info on this website, or perhaps you can help?

Marcel.

I don't know. The traffic went down and stayed down when you changed the forum about a year ago.

I've been out of town since Oct. 9th and just checked back today for the first time since my trip. During that period, 50 posts were made. This actually ain't too bad considering how slow things were in the summer, and early fall.

I do think things are gradually picking up here. Many former "regular" phonoland posters have gravitated to other boards since the new format was introduced, but I've noticed that a few have come back and are now posting here--at least on a semi-regular basis.

I'd personally like to see more input from British collectors, especially those interested in, and knowledgeable about HMV, EMG, etc. Com'mon lads! Get yer bums off yer 'ands and start typin'! :)

I am getting very happy! :-) The stats have gone up since I started new promotion campaign few weeks ago... the re-introduction of anonymous posting also seems to help. The number of posts per day have been increading rapidly since a few days aswell.

Every x days there seems to be a day with almost no postings, I have no idea what's causing this. Weekends are also usually quiet, which can mean most people are on the forum at work 8)

btw Joe_DS: Don't forget about the dutch! lol!

I generally post during the day at work, but they've since put some kind of webtracker/blocker on all the machines at all the county agencies, so I can't post anymore. I'm seldom on the computer in the evenings because of other obligations. I miss all the buzzing that went on last year. Formats may change, but the folks stay the same. I value that more than having to hit a few more keys, navigate more menus, whatever. The same good folks are still here, so just adjust to the new format and keep communicating. You can't put a price on information/knowledge gained here. Don't let a new format stop you.
On a down note, I do have a problem with "hit-and-run" visitors who pop in looking for a stylus/cartridge, how much is it worth, never to be heard from again when they get an answer. Hang around awhile and learn something.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it... --BB
