I have a console "The Fisher 401 with functioning turntable with sound, cassette player with sound, but the radio will not play. The lights go on, I can turn the tuner, but there's no sound. The antenna needle section lights up with no movement. What do I do? What do i need to buy?

It's easy.
You "need to buy" the services of an experienced technician who works on vintage electronics.

You simply sit back and have a cup of tea, and let them do all the hard work.

Some of them, like me, are so backed up with restorations, that it might take a little while to get to your unit.
(best to get on the list soon)
But have faith, if you get a good, honest technician, they'll do a wonderful job.
And you're keeping your money in the USA, another side benefit.

Jennilyn,
I wholeheartedly agree with MattTech. This unit is probably long overdue for an overhaul.

This being said, you may very well not have any antennas hooked up. AM and FM use separate ones. AM is usally a rod with wire around it mounted to the chassis somewhere. FM is usually two flat wires running together and then to the chassis. It is sometimes stapled to the back of the cabinet.

If you are in a basement or a steel framed building, you will not get anything.
