Fisher sets had a sound of their own you either like them or not. they cost more than RCA,Zenith Magnavox etc. Fisher favored Garrard changers in the 50 s and early 60.s also Fisher used magnatic certridges where Zenith,Magnavox RCA,Curtis Mathes used cermatic carts.

Lower end Fisher consoles had ceramic cartridges by the way. And not all ceramic cartridges were necessarily inferior then either. The Garrard changers varied from high end to some which were very cheaply built (the late Unimechs were especially nasty). Also Fisher used some ELAC/Miracord, Dual, and Perpetuum-Ebner changers in their consoles too. Don't always assume. The Magnavox Concert Grand and even Imperials in top notch condition will compete with many a Fisher (and I am an ardent audiophile and console fanatic and Fisher buff), and in 1958 money that Concert Grand was over $1100 new at cheapest and they went to as high as $2800 new. And the Collaro Conquest changers used in them were on par with most comparable Garrards then in the AutoSlim lineup. Zenith also had some over $1100 new X line consoles which competed and well into 1967.
