I am new to wurlitzers, I have Seeburgs and have some technical knowledge. Here is the question - My Wurlitzer is having difficulties picking up and storing records to the magazine. I know it is somewhat mis-aligned due to moving and years of abuse. Everything works, but I am assuming the pick-up arm lays over to the side when the magazine moves. It is not doing this. It returns a record, but stays in the straight up position, and that causes the lower record holder to strike the record in the side and break out a piece. I did see it lay over one time, but it seems locked now in a straight up position. Am I correct??

Assuming that I am understanding your question--
No, when returning the record to the storage area, the arm remains ( or should remain) straight up. I am also assuming that the lower "jaw" that closes on a record, is not "relaxing". This is sometimes "cure-able" with some oil--other times it indicates that the plastic "jaw" has split, right where the pin is inserted. Check at wwwflippers.com/WurliTzer , for more info. Ron Rich

that is correct. The pin that goes thru this jaw contacts the switch blade. that pin is not straight. it looks crooked on the right side opposite the switch. The jaw will not relax any further that I can tell. So it sticks out just far enough to contact records, and make them break. The magazine is empty except for one old junk record right now. That is the major problem, of course after I get that fixed, then I have some alignment issues with placing the record back in the magazine.

OK ?? I have never had an "alignment" problem with these units-- The Service Manual MAY (?) show how it's done--if it can be done ? (Would be my guess that it was factory done, with a jig, when made, and "not possible" to change?) It also may well be a lack of lubrication causing this ? Ron Rich

Thanks so much Ron, and I will try to use the manual "nomenclatures" as a newbe. My manual doesn't seem to be very helpful in this area. May be because as you said, problems don't normally appear like this. I think from a move, something became "out of whack" I think I will carefully remove the pick-up arm assembly so I can study the mechanics here a bit and discover just what is really bent, or broke. I do know that the arm was laying over on its side at one point after the move, so if that's not normal then I am sure that may have something to do with the problem. I'll let you know what I come up with and again, thanks so much. What manual is you best recommendation for this model?
