I picked this beautiful astro sonic machine off CL for $25. The radio works fine but the record player does nothing. The guy i bought it from said it needed a new belt. Does anyone know the where and hows on this?

I hope some other folks chime in here...

I don't know what kind of turntable you have, but those Astro-Sonics were using W610/W620 series turntables that aren't belt driven. Remove that "C" washer at the base of the spindle to remove the platter and have a look-see. The idler wheel may not be engaging the inside of the platter because there may be gunk on the linkage that pushes the wheel outward to make contact with the platter and the motor pole. Maybe it justs needs a good cleaning and lube. I hope the turntable is original.--BB

The original lube on the motor may be shot too. Check the jockey arm assembly lube too.

Magnavox/Collaro never had a belt drive model.

Thanks, I got it spinning once i took off the c screw thing and gave it a little push start. Now its working fine except that the 45 setting is too fast. The record is just a bit too fast. Any ideas on slowing it down?

Check to see if the wheel is dragging on the 78 step.

There is no fine speed adjustment.
