Hi, I recently aquired this magnificent wooden cabinet, Electrohome Monte Carlo from 1967. Other than that, I am what you'd like to call a newbie !

The turntable is now squeaking (intermittently). I m pretty sure a bit of sewing machine oil would do the job but i have an issue finding how to access the motor. Can't get to it from the top (or there s a trick i dont know). From down low (behind the cabinet) it's full of old cables and electronics i dont want to risk anything there.

How do i access the motor from up there ?

Thanks,

That 47 year old Dual 10xx series changer will by NOW require a bit more than oil.
At best, it's only a "quick fix".
The only proper way to insure reliable long-term operation is to have it completely serviced by someone who knows Dual changers.

Dual changers are well made but rather finicky and easy to get out of order. You may easily ruin it. That said, you can remove the changer by going in the back and push the mounting keepers parallel to the bolts. This will allow them to slip through the baseplate holes. There should be 3ea. Then unplug all the connections and lift it out. Matt is correct that this set will require a lot more than a little oil to make her operate properly and safely. See "Required Viewing" at the top of the forum.

The Dual retainers are NOT like a common VM changer, with those "flip up" clips.
They use tilting bolts.
