Magnavox designer 60s

by solidamber » Thu Jul 09, 2015 1:17 am

Hi, new to the forum, just joined as I was doing some on-line research on Magnavox, my father was chief designer in the collaro Magnavox factory in Barking UK, he is now 91, he and his team designed record players and auto changers the units where for the US market only, he used to go to to the US every 6 weeks for meetings and was quite a celebrity over there as it was the days before mass air travel, until the company ceased working in the UK in the early 70s, we where going to emigrate to Maryland US so he could continue his work but in the end did not as there where several shootings over there which put him off. he sometimes took me to the factory on Saturdays I remember seeing the decks on test running 24h a day. he brought parts home for me to play with, we have been looking in his garage to see if he had any parts that could help any enthusiasts, but only found a box of Bakelite electric motors. I found one of his many patents on line, http://www.google.co.uk/patents/US3142489

Cool. Thank you for posting that.
Vinyl is disease which attacks that area of the brain desiring digital recordings. Once you catch it, you are cured.
