Sears Silvertone Model #4272

Found this beauty over the weekend at an estate sale. A bit expensive (for me, probably not for most) but I just couldn't pass it up! Still new to dealing with vintage record players, and most of what I find a) don't work, and b) are usually dinged up. Especially if they're the "fabric" covered variety, such as this Sears Silvertone. But it's in amazing condition, only a couple scratches here and there. I've honestly not found one out "in the wild" in as great shape as this one. Plays perfect (so far) and everything.

If anyone knows more information about this particular model of Sears Silvertone (#4272) I'd love to hear it! Or if you've managed to find any manuals online that you'd have links to, etc. I can't find much information at all pertaining to this particular model. Thanks! Just thought I'd share!

Well, here's an identical looking model 3272, from the 1962 Sears Christmas Catalog:

My guess would be that the one you have might have been listed in the regular 1962 Sears Catalog, or perhaps the 1963 catalog.

Wow! Thanks not only for the record player information, but for that Wish Book link! I could look through those 1960's ones ALL day long! Love them! Thanks again! (And perhaps my $150 wasn't too bad, after all. It was $77 when originally released?! That sounds mighty steep for way back then!)

Hi Nathan:

If any more information about your model comes my way, I'll be sure to pass it along in this post string.

By the way, if you haven't seen it, check out this site -- http://www.radioshackcatalogs.com/catal ... ctory.html -- which I posted awhile back in Collector's Lounge. You'll see complete online editions of old Radio Shack catalogs dating from the 1930s to the near-present. They are chock full of sound systems and components of all eras and types.
