Rowe R86 plays records one number higher 122=123

Rowe R86 is playing selections one higher than chosen example selecting 110 plays 111 instead. Sometimes it will play correctly ,but most of the time not. Is there a adjustment for this issue. Also I would like to lube the mech ,what points are necessary.

Gregg,
If the basket is evenly loaded, and it does this all around, the opto adjustment is wrong. You also could have a dirty/worn "sprague" set-up. See the service manual for adjustment procedures.
The service manual may say that the mech "needs no lubrication"( some add "for 5 years")--IMHO, they lied ! The Turntable motor, Gripper motor and basket motor have oil felts on all armature sides that must be filled with 20 wt. ND oil, at least once a year, according to the motor makers. The turntable shaft and the tone arm shaft also should get the same oil.

Thanks for the tip , I read the manual and learned how to adjust the optical switch.Seems to work fine now

I had a similar problem on one of the R-90- R91s I bought new. It turned out that there was a blob of some sort of synthetic grease partially obscuring one tooth of the magazine gear. Since the gears are 'counter" the computer seemed to lose a slot. I would have thought that a missed pulse would generate an error.
These machines were right off the showroom floor, so someone at the factory must have gotten sloppy.

Hi Rob,
On the early Rowe/Ami CD100's, I have seen enough oil on the gear teeth to "mess up the count" ( "Oil" also will be on the CD's themselves--messing those up too). Sometime during the production run, they added a "oil shield" to the gripper motor to prevent this--
Anything blocking the light for the opto will mess this up, without any computer error showing, as the computer merely "waits" for each pulse--no timing involved between pulses-- Ron Rich
