WURLITZER 800 help !

by ryan69juke » Fri Apr 24, 2015 4:48 pm

A guy brought me a beautiful restored 800 that is locked up with a record almost all the way up into play position and won't go any further . The fiber gear is stripped so it won't go any further. I've backed the turntable down almost to the bottom position by turning the motor by hand ,then it is stuck again. It appears that the changer has had very little lubrication and could be part of the problem.?Iv'e done many of the 100,104 200 selection wurlitzers but not to many of the 24 selection mechs, and it's been many years ! Would appreciate any help on this project. Robert

Hi Robert,
I don't do much with 24 select WurliTzers--but it's all mechanical--just need to free it up/clean it/ check bearings/lube it ( and in this case, replace the gear)--lotza work, just need to start "un-screwing things"---

Thanks for the input Ron . Sometimes I think I must be outta my mind to take on projects like this ! LoL But the machine is so nice you just wanna bring it back to life ! The guy that owns it told me he got it from his dad before he passed away and that it was restored by someone in Pennsylvania . It is truly a piece of art ! I did work on it last night and did get the turntable to go all the way up and play the record .With a little lubrication )After the record finishes ,it rejects ,table goes down then brings it right back up again then gets stuck where the fiber gear is stripped .This is gonna be more fun than a barrel of monkeys ! LOL Now I remember why I like Seeburg so much \\\\\\\\\\\\\Robert
