Hello all,
i'm new on this forum and also on working with jukeboxes.
I just buy a Rockola 1000 Nostalgia.
The first day it plays with 99 credits (so freeplay).
Then i jumped to dollar play.
What can i do to reset this to the Freeplay modus.
Can anyone help me with this one
Thnx Lieven

Hi Lieven,
That phonograph uses a computer driven pricing unit- Offhand, I do not recall the procedure for free play, but it is shown in the service manual. If you do not have a manual, you can purchase it from one of the suppliers shown, in the "stickies" above-- Sorry, but I don't understand the part about the "dollar" ?

Hello and welcome. I believe that model has the S2 control unit, easily identified in the upper right corner of the cabinet by the vertical row of red buttons (and also where it says "S2"). To set to free play, advance the top LED by pressing the S1 (top) red button. Each time you press it, the LED advances one move to the right, enabling the selections of the functions listed vertically beneath it. Select the row with "free play" listed on the third line, and then press that red button located on that line horizontally. It's the S3 button. 99 shoult then appear on the right side of the display, indicating free play. If it forgets free play after it's been shut off, replace the battery mounted between the boards in the S2 control unit. Plenty of help on this forum to guide you on that.

Guys,
IMHO, the battery should be replaced ASAP-- I have seen MANY of those computers destroyed by a leaky battery !
I also suggest that it be externally mounted, to prevent any damage in the future ! Ron Rich

Lieven,
Yes, that' my suggestion--
On line ? But you should be able to get it anywhere that sells Ni-Cad batteries for telephones.

These are a 3.6v battery, available at many places, but don't buy lithium batteries! One of my jukes had one (installed by a "pro") and the trickle charge blew it up, taking out the S2. The originals are ni-cd. I've bought several at different places, but the best I've bought were 1500mAh ones from Batteries Plus.

Patrick, and all,
You can use a Li, BUT, you must dis-able the "charging circuit", if you do so, as you found out--the hard way !
BTW--almost any battery that has 3 volts, or more can be used--. Whatever you use, I strongly urge, it be externally mounted !!
