1967 SEEBURG STEREO SHOWCASE SS160

by fenderman1960 » Tue Feb 02, 2016 8:06 pm

Hi everyone ,
Needing some help with my 1967 SEEBURG STEREO SHOWCASE SS160 , It's always been working fine in the past , haven't used for
about four months and when I did ( It has a free play button on the side ) selected one song played fine and another fine , next song
played after selecting and it kept loading songs in the order on the jukebox without me selecting any more .
Now I'm wondering why and what to do , if anyone could help that would be great .

Thanks Roger .

Hi Roger,
10 second "fix"-- Open the lower doors, find the SCC, pull out the Tormat (RCA type) plug, tighten the outer contact rings, and re-install the plug--close doors, and enjoy your selected, only, music ! Ron Rich

Hi Roger,
OK--take a good look at that plug--it SHOULD have a shield, AND, a small (usually, but not always, green) wire soldered to the outside.
Your symptoms indicate that one or more of those wires is open-- Another thing you might check is the SCC--which "code" is it ??

Hi Ron ,
Thanks for new info , looked a plug hard to tell but seems to as you say wire soldered to the outside and one to the center
looks like green is in the center and other soldered on the outside , center seems not to touch anything same as outer wire.
But because of it's age not to much kinda cleanness on the plug . The code you said about is that the one near the plug if so
it's 13106 Tormat , if this is not the code could you let me know where it is, still learning about Jukebox .

Thanks Roger .

Hi Roger,
I am confused--
The RCA plug MUST have the shield ( or sometimes called "braid") --AND--a small colored wire, SOLDERED to the outside of that plug --
Do you have a meter ? If so measure the tip to ground of that plug and let me know what it reads--
The "Code" I need will be a letter--A,B, or C in, or near the "code box" on that ID tag. Ron Rich

Hi Ron ,
Don't have a meter , just looked the Code is C , the plug... three wires.. one to the center ( looks green ) two soldered to the outside
one is black and the other bare , which I would think is Earth wire ( you may call Ground ) , sorry not giving you to much info but this is
all new to me . Sorry to be such a pain .

Roger .

Hi Roger,
OK-that sounds correct, and Code C is the last version of the SCC--try the following:
Carefully slide the SCC forward till you can see the relay on the inside--then start the mechanism scanning, and tap on the insulated portion of the relay to close the points--Let me know what happens--Ron Rich

Ron
I must be driving you mad , just want to make sure which is the Relay , I have the Seeburg Service Manual which shows on Section 6
Page 4 the inside of the SCC and points to K3102 Trip Relay ..is this the one , I would have to remove the right casing to get to it .

Thanks Roger .

Hi Ron ,
Tryed what you said about tapping on the relay , first I switched on with the juke box back switch no movement on scanning , tapped
the relay still not moving pressed the added free play button on the side and selected a record , still no movement . It is now not
selecting at all . Strange . Plus.. reset button at back not working
