Any New Acquisitions???

by Bobby Basham » Thu Jan 04, 2007 6:55 am

Ya know, folks throw out and/or donate stuff to the thrift stores after getting new toys. Another man's/woman's trash.....

I personally don't have any more room for more toys. Just wondering what treasures you may have found.

I am always haunting the local thrift shops for old records. They have mostly junk but every so often I find some nice ones. Although here in good old Brooklyn a few of them have closed up recently. I wonder why?

Recently Acquired Sears Silvertone

by splashkenburger » Thu May 17, 2007 4:45 pm

The other day I picked up an old Sears Silvertone Medalist that I am planning on restoring. I got it for free from an older neighbor who had it the back of his garage for 20 some odd years. The speakers work surprisingly well, but I need to get the amp up to par. I am new to vintage stereos so any insight on my project would be greatly appreciated. The model number is 8249.

I recently came across a vurtual goldmine of records in a local thrift shop.
They got about 200 records in, ranging from about 1910 up to the 50s. I've picked up some early Rena & Columbia Rena's, some single sided HMVs, a few early labels I didn't have, and some later stuff like Ella Fitsgerald. Even got some foreign stuff in Greek, Italian & even 1 in polish. Every payday, I've been going back for more! If only all op shops had such a selection :D

Zenith Console

I found this today, and I bought it because it looked cool. Turns out it works well. Any idea of how old? Is it worth anything?
