Oh, and Rob-if a "regular size fuse" is inserted, you do not need "tweezers" to remove it--just press down on it and allow the spring to snap it out--

Unless you can tip the unit to make the blown fuse fall out, a pliers will be needed...or a very sticky finger

I guess we will have to agree to dis-agree here, unless you want to practice !! --I just did pop a "regular fuse" out of a (red cap) GMQ holder here--and have done so "hundreds" of times-and I ainna gotz no "sticky finger" !
All that's needed is something "pointy" ( I just used a pocket Phillips screwdriver)--push down and allow the spring to pop it up high enough to use the point to grab the fuse between the glass and metal--then pull it the rest of the way out- This particular unit today, was an amp, which sat "sideways"-but, I have done this several times on a wall-box power transformer that is screwed down to the cabinet floor--

hey guys. it could be that my blown fuse was actually a more common out-of-spec replacement already. it's too big in diameter to fit in the red cap, and i fished it out of the sleeve pretty easily... but there are no markings at all on the fuse. when i get home i'll take a closer look at the cap and see if somebody had already done the trick with the old end piece in the cap. i'm 1200 miles from the LPC. i needed a break from it anyway! it's encouraging to know i could experiment with 4A SB's. then monkey with the damn relay.


back next week to a fairly busy schedule... should be excited to work on it again after settling in.

Hi Eric,
If you fished the glass portion out of the red cap, and found no markings on it, I would assume it was the correct one--
The "regular sized, replacement" will NOT enter the red portion of that cap--the idea is to use the cap to push down on the "new" fuse, so that it will make contact with the bottom of the holder, and the cap itself-- Ron Rich
