Rowe cd 100, cd pro player, 4.1 ccc

Had the player rebuilt about 2 years ago. Worked great till maybe a month ago now all it does is pick up a cd spin it at about half the speed and put it back. No errors and everything else seems fine. Could it be the player again??

(Please read PM !)
I dono--need to trouble shoot ! On CDM-4's MOST of the problems I found were the hubs that had broken free of the shaft--super ( "crazy") glue fixed it--I have not seen "new" 4 optics in years ?? Ron Rich

It is a pro player and I know it isn't spinning on the hub. Sometimes it works also. If I leave it on for a while and let it pick up a hand full of CDs try to play them all of a sudden it will work fine and play all the music I tell it to. Until I unplug it for the day and try it again the next day and start the process over.

Not clear--You said it was a "4.1 pro player" -- If a 4.1, it may be a "professional" model, but it is not what's generally refereed to as a "PRO player", which is what those $15.00 (usually 2nds !), optics sets, fit. Ron Rich

No the computer has a 4.1 version updated chip and the player is a CD pro. I apologize if that wasn't clear on the first post.

No Problem--Now I understand--I'm not the sharpest knife in the draw-- sometimes
My opinion has now changed--I'm guessing, from what you have written, that you have a dry turntable motor, in the player. Do you know if it was oiled or, replaced, when the unit was re-built ? SOME of these motors have an oil hole in the bottom--if so, 20wt. ND oil works wonders--also oil the top bearing--which has no oil hole -- just "saturate it", allow some time for it to "trickle down", --CLEAN off excess !! Be sure to only touch the player using anti-static procedures( including grounding the oil dispenser !), as failure to do so, does deteriorate the lazer !! Ron Rich

Slides are not supposed to have "oil" on them--supposed to have a very, micro thin coating, of that "special" $200.00 per OZ. grease, ONLY, that Phillips sells ! Ron Rich

That is where I use that SuperLube - a very light "smear" with my finger along the rails.
Works wonders.

Hi Matt,
But that's to "cheap" for Phillips ! ( I wipe them clean then wipe them with a Teflon coated, paper towel. Probably have done close to 10,000 of them (inc. CDM 12's) this way--no problems--- Ron Rich
