Rockola 464

So I've had some time lately to mess with my 464 some more. It works right now but there are still a few kinks I'd like to iron out so it works flawlessly. So here is where I stand; when I make a selection the selection isn't always played. Basically the carriage hammer doesn't always engage and trigger the selector lever. I can tell that when the first digit is pushed the K6 relay engages triggering the light and such. When the second digit button is pressed the lock bar solenoid engages and when the third button is pressed the lock bar releases, the write-in arm rotates and stops at the selection lever but doesnt' always engage. Now my first thought is the write-in solenoid but it doesn't matter which arm solenoid is trying to select as they both are intermittent (464 has two write-in arms). When it either doesnt' find a selection or does, the credit reset coil resets along with everything else. But most times the result is still no selection. Now when I got this working it was already setup to just play without taking credits. I reinstalled the coin drop mech and it does register coins and the accumulator twitches but I can't tell if it's really working. I can trigger the credit switch on the credit box but it doesn't really do much it seems.

Does anyone have any thoughts on where I should look next? Is it both a accumulator and key issue? Or is the credit box and accumulator not supplying the correct voltage on a constant basis in order to trigger the hammer coil and make a selection and then reset the credit system properly?

On a side note, anyone know where to find a set of replacement 6" speakers that fit properly in the top ballast?

Check at the top/rear of the selection drum--you will see a coil, that should pull the wobble plate every time a hammer coil fires--this is "assisted" by a copper colored "U" shaped spring, that often is broken
The credit acc should "advance" every time a coin passes the switch--your hand is not a "good sub" for a coin ! Check that the coin fuse is the correct type and size !
For the speakers--if you have a set--re-cone them-or if you need some, check the "usual suspects" shown above in the announcements section--

Thanks Ron. I checked the copper "U", the fuses, and the credit unit works. I got my trouble down to the selection impulse switch not being engaged properly and on a consistant basis. I adjusted the credit reset coil bracket in so that the switch gets pushed far enough to engage so the rest of the circuit to the hammer coil goes. Only problem now that I can see is the credit reset pawl doesn't take credits off. I can't tell if maybe something is missing to properly move the ratchets to remove a credit or if something needs to be aligned again. What is your thought?

Hi Curtis, The subtract lever and spring are missing on the pawl you will see a slot for the lever to go through, these are often removed to "freeplay" the jukebox, I have a stack of these as 99% of the rock-olas I sell go out on freeplay

Ahhh, I was wondering if something was missing. Both the parts catalog and service manual only give one viewpoint so I couldn't tell for sure. But the parts catalog does mention a spring for the pawl. That makes sense now. Thanks a bunch!!
