Sorry I'm back again!!! Had the test meter out and checked a few things you both suggested. Here's what I found. I connected the probes across the ADR solenoid connectors while running, it is getting 22v approx. But during the whole cycle I never see the solenoid move. Checked the 3 switches on top of the ADR they all appear fine.
On another note, its driving me mad, the wobble plate solenoid. I can see when it turns on via the Stop relay, as the limit lamp lights and the write in arm stops. But for the life of me I just can't see when the wobble solenoid should switch off, the manaul doesn't mention it! I was under the impression that this solenoid was only temporary to make the flicking of the selector lever easy to move!!
Please guys any answers to these questions, and what do I check next.. I'm getting sleepness nights at the moment thinking about a fix!!!!!

When you probed the relay contacts, did you by chance push down on the relay ? If not, do so, as it should de-energize and release both the hammer, and wobble plate coils-- (22 volts sounds low--check the power supply !)
HOW did you "check the contacts" ? In order to properly "check them", you need a good Analog style meter---"Digitals" won't work !!

I tested the ADR relay by putting the probes either side of the coil, there's a rectangular 850 ohm 5 watt cap between both contacts, not sure if this affects the reading on the meter. There appears to be about 22-23v going there. I don't see the solenoid pull down. However, if I manually push down on the ADR so the switch contacts touch, everything works.

Also, not sure if this causes the problem. The switch on the selector plate, by the wobble solenoid seems active all the time. While machine power off, I set the meter to continuity buzzer, and when I touch the 2 contacts of this micro switch, it buzzes, surely thats not right! I would have thought it would buzz when I push the switch on. Really is confusing me. I've studied the schematic and I'm sure the wobble plate solenoid and the micro switch are wired correctly.
Any more suggestions.. btw, I have both digital and analog meters.

in case anyone in the future reading this post is interested of the outcome... I narrowed it down to the ADR relay, power was there but the relay never worked. However, if I manually pushed the relay down at the appropriate time the read out arm worked.
I removed the ADR and tested with meter, there was a break in the windings.
Have ordered a replacement... watch this space. I'll post the final results once its delivered and fitted. thanks again for all the diagnosis advise from everyone here.

Sometimes---you can "get lucky" on a relay of that type, when "open". Peal back the area near the solder-lugs, very, very, VERY, carefully. If the broken lead is on the "outside" of the coil, you can, "remove one turn", or, splice to it and re-solder it to the lug. If it's the inside lead, not broken where you can see it, you are, "outa luck". but if it's broken where you can see it, splice on--and enjoy your good luck !

You are spot on... as I peeled the tape back the wire break WAS on the outside, but being the clumsy person I am, the whole coiled wire came apart in my hands...Ooops!! hence the re-ordering a replacement!!!!!! If only I'd known before hand..

Sorry 'bout that--can't you re-wrap it ?? A few missing turns, won't hurt anything--
