rockola 490

by miket » Sun Apr 22, 2012 5:36 pm

just got my first jukebox. rockola supersound 490
it scans for records, picks up, sets on turntable and then stops
if i manually click one of the limit switches it will play
after playing i can hold the limit switch again and it will take the record of and go to the next

also, it doesn't seem like it is overly loud. i figured with the 4 speakers it would blast me out of the room

thank you

Welcome--
If you want one of us to help you, you first must help us, by using the terms used n the Service Manual--
If you do not have one see "announcements--where to buy" above. Obtain a manual, read it, and get back to us with your remaining questions--if any. Ron Rich

when you make a selection the magazine turns, finds the record, the gripper arm take the record and sets it on the turntable that is running and that is as far as it goes
i must then close mthe outer microswitch 2 and then the record plays
after the song is over, the relay clicks and i have to close outer microswitch 2 to get it tomove the tone arm, have the gripper arm take the record back to the magazine.

thanks

I am assuming that you are "pushing in" on that Microswitch actuator, as Microswitches with three connections, are both "open" and "closed", at the same time.
If that's the case, does it look like the cam should be pushing in on it when a record is on the turn table--run the gripper motor by hand--will it turn far enough to push on that Microswitch ? Also--check the sequence of operation in the Service Manual--
