If the relay in the Autospeed is not energizing when a large-hole record is clamped, the mech will run at 33 rpm. If it was energizing before you installed new caps, check the plug going from the Autospeed to the TCC. If that's OK, follow the schematic in the service manual. The relay is energized thru the "IC" contacts, the "P" contacts and the clamp arm switch contacts-- Ron Rich

Got the Service Manual--Seeburg changed the switch "call outs" during the 480 run--newer books call it the "2m-11" contacts.

Still something going on:
When selecting the 45 rpm record to play the following occurs.
Scans and puts the record into the turntable, stylus touches the record than stops.
1 Checked ASU Power relay energized ( contacts tested Closed manually OK on inspection on the bench )
2 Checked Reset Lever contacts closed.
3 Checked clamp arm contact closed.
Performed 24 LPC procedure, jumper pin 1 test socket 2 to pin 11 on test socket 1....sound still at 331/3rd
Checked Auto Speed items 5 and 6, relay energizing OK as per 1 check
Replaced ASU capacitors..
At a loss... need some guidance here
Al

If the relay in pulling in the contacts in the mech are not at fault. The problem is limited to ASU. Check the speed adjust pot on the front of the unit. These develop dead spot and open up. Check for voltage (AC) ate the secondary of the power tran (T751) Check for DC on the filter cap C752. Both these checks must be done with relay pulled in.
Do you have a schematic?

Al,
As I have stated many times--"re-capping" is not necessarily a "fix"--
You have an internal problem in the Autospeed. If you have a schematic, and the skills, needed to trouble shoot it, do so. If not, I would suggest you ship the Autospeed to someone who does repair them-I stock all required parts, and do up date/rebuild them. PM me if you wish to ship it to me. Ron Rich

Does anyone have a detailed internal diagram or photo of a LPC 480 coin equipment unit that works. I see two little weight springs that attach to nothing.. Coin sometimes jams up at this location. Just need to verify the unit is correctly set up

Hi Al,
I ASSUME that you are referring to the "slug rejector" ? The SS-160 was equipped with one of three different brands, of them--which one do you have, and--can you post a photo ? Besides that--"someone" may have installed an older, or newer, version, as they would fit--Ron Rich

Cleared the slug ejector problem with a little cleaning...thanks..another issue....when a record is finished at what point does the amp cut out and is there an adjustment...sounds as if it's still active in record unloading and ready for scanning.
Al...

Hi Al,
I don't understand your question--
The clamp arm is forced out of the record by the turning of the main cam shaft.

AL, the sequence is as follows: The trip switch on the tonearm assembly pulls in the mute-trip relay in the amp. One set of contacts on that relay applies power to the trip coil for a fraction of a second till a set of contacts on the cam switches open the circuit to the trip coil but the relay stays pulled-in till just before the next record is mounted. Simultaneously, another two sets of contacts on that relay ground out the output from the preamp section of the amp thus muting it.
There should be no sound through the speakers from the point where the record trips off till the stylus sets down on the next selection. The relay should stay energized.
If you are hearing sound after trip off the cause my be defective mute contacts on the relay. Generally, this will affect one channel only. If you hear noises from both channels it probably means that the contacts on the mech that carryover the relay are not making and holding.
Open the relay cover and check whether it is being held down. Also examine the small wires to the three sets of contacts but don't attempt to adjust them unless there is an obvious fault there.
BTW: The center set on the relay trips the mech when down and grounds out the AGC squelch when up. The two side sets are the mute and are supposed to be slightly formed to close before the trip contacts to avoid a thump at trip off.

Hi Rob, Al,
Boy, did I ever mis-read Al's question--somehow I thought he was speaking about the (record) "clamp-arm" ?
Glad you caught that !! An easy to check if it is a problem internal to the mute relay, or if it's the "holding contacts" on the mechanism, is to un-plug the "Mech" (mute) plug from the amp while the mech is in the scan position, with the motor off. Then plug it back in, if the contacts on the mech are good, you should be able to hear the relay energize. Ron Rich

Ron, Rob, Thanks for the help.... I found what I needed from your input and in the Mechanism section for " record cut-off " for the trip actuator and trip switch reset adjustments...it's good to talk with someone with knowledge of this Jukebox...
Again thanks...I learn something new everyday with this unit
