Zenith-how to remove cartridge!!!

by Raven65 » Mon Sep 06, 2010 3:20 am

How do I take the cartridge out of tone-arm?!?
There are no apparent screws on top or sides.
Does it just snap in and out. I don't want to break
Anything! This is off a zenith allegro, mid to late
60's. Turntable is a bsr c198. Thanks, raven

First off, is the cartridge defective?.....
If so, how did you determine that?

We need more information in order to assist.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

First, needle was not picking up any sound. I thought
There should be at least some sound, even scratching noises
Coming out. I figured I would replace cartridge and needle
To start. I'm not positive it's a bad cartridge, but this thing is
Bugging me that I can't figure out how to remove it!
More of just a personal battle now.
Thanks for your reply. Raven

Problem solved! On the top of the head of the tone arm is a very thin
Metal overlay that is glued on. This makes it look like it is a seamless solid
Part! Carefully removing this reveals the screw!
Also the cartridge was missing the little rubber saddle that the
Needle sets in. Raven
