Hey Jefferyb304,

Bless your bones, you're still hanging around. What did you do to fix the problem? I had crackling/dirty controls that would cut out one channel. Especially the Selector switch. Had to rock it back and forth until both channels popped back in. Yeah, it's on my to-do list...LOL.

So many Maggies, so little time.....umm.

You are so close to my fix it's unreal. I unpluged the console and rocked the controls up and down til it raked off the corosion. I still have some problem but not like it was. the volume control was a wreck and is now nearly chrystal clear. The selector is better than it was but can still be a small pain.
For a set that retialed for less than 200 $ 30 years ago that has window jarring sound yet, I'd say my Grandmother got her monies worth.
Im shure some HI-FI buffs would not recomend this but it " saved my bones" from doing the hard job of cleaning the controls with contact clenaer.
by the way, I really got a kick out of that fraze.

They got this stuff called de-oxit, it comes in a can, you spray it on the contacts threw the holes in the knobs, and it eats away the oxidation! rubbing them back and forth till the shite rubs off hurts the contacts! de-oxit, cheap cant get it a radioshack, so dont go there, order online!

Sorry, but I dont have holes in the knobs and its not like I try to do this everyday or every week or month.

When you remove the amp from the console, the back of the control knobs have small openings where you can spray the contacts, like giving an injection, they are visible. Spray in the little hole(s) and rotate to clean them suckers. I may re-do all my amps after I get my own house. I've been renting this same house for 17 years, and it's packed...standing room only. It's about 800 square feet, but hoping to move on to maybe 2,000 square feet to make room for all these Maggies and my 9-ft Concert Grand Piano, $40,000 after 10 years...Yay!!! Oh, and not to forget the Hammond C3 and Leslie. --BB
