Seeburg 100A Gears

by ds100h » Fri Jan 30, 2015 2:10 am

Hi All

Tomorrow I am getting a Seeburg 100A. Anyone care to share a good source to obtain the gears to convert this unit from 78RPM to 45RPM and 33 1/3 RPM?

Best

Darrell,
IMHO--there is no good gear made, to do this-- For 45rpm, you have a WHOLE lot more to do, then just change gears--and I have never heard one playing a 33 rpm record, that sounded "good" to me--
Victory Glass may still have kits/gears ???? Ron Rich
P.S.--If you convert to 33, figure it will take about an hour to scan for the next selected record (well, not quite an hour--but a long, slow process !!!)

Ron

Thank you for your thoughts on this matter.

I have a Seeburg A that has been converted to 33 1/3. While it does operate slower, it is not unreasonable in my humble opinion. I do not have the best ear for music, but anyone that has heard mine in operation has never said anything negative about the sound, maybe just being nice? It is beautiful when lit up and I really like the idea of being able to play our 33 1/3 albums that were just laying around in storage collecting dust. The only negative I have found is the limit of the songs you can put on the title strip. I guess a perfectionist could print up a listing of the records and list all the songs on each album and have it by the jukebox. I kind of like being surprised by what songs actually play, kinda of like a walk down memory lane.

The only thing I seen at Vivctory Glass was a set of gears for a B or newer for 45RPM for $175.00.

Ron

Warning do not watch this link!

Others please enjoy my wife's Seeburg M100a https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKgwfgmVkj8

This plays 33 1/3 RPM albums in lieu of the 78 RPM records it was designed to play.
