I have a DS 160 jukebox in good working order....

I have had it for about 12 years and have enjoyed it very much....

Recently it has started to immediately reject a record, as soon as it picks it up and the needle touches it !

Very frustrating.....

If I keep playing records...after about 10-20 times...it will start to play normally, and then work normally until I turn it off and return the next time, when the reject thing will begin again.....

Anyone out there with any knowledge of what could be causing this and how to go about repairing this problem ???

The mechanism needs oiling. The clutch is not sliding down when the record reaches the turntable so the mechanism keeps moving causing it to reject. After it warms up, the clutch stops sticking and drops allowing the record to be played. Do not use WD40 as it thickens and sticks causing problems such as this. Can I get to clutch to oil it without removing gold cover ?

While I agree that it "could be" the clutch, or clutch pin, and I agree, that WD-40 causes many more problems, then it cures, you are going to need to determine if it is an electrical, or mechanical problem first. If mechanical, IMHO, it will require removing much more then the "gold cover" !
I also dis-agree with "mineral oil" and Marvel Mystery Oil. I use only what Seeburg spec'd.: SAE 20 wt. ND Motor oil.
If it's been 12 years since it was properly oiled, and the problem IS mechanical--proper oiling followed by a whole lot of playing, MAY fix it---
If you have electrical/mechanical skills, and wish to DIY, you will need to purchase the service manual, and IMHO, My "Seeburg Mechanism Guide", should come in handy.

Thanks again...I don't have a ton of experience with EM stuff, other than cleaning and adjusting some pinball machines....
I'll try some light oiling..and then I'll get to contact a repairman if not improved...
I'm sure it could use a good cleaning and lubrication
