Rock-Ola 1493

by daysgoneby » Thu Oct 22, 2015 1:18 am

I am working on a Rock-Ola 1493, problem I am having is the record basket has a rough rotation. I also noticed that the selection made is not the same one displayed in the record playing window but the correct record is pulled from the basket. Would a bad set of motor brushed cause this rough rotation and vibration of the record basket? Thanks for any help ahead of time!

The more likely cause on those R-Os is gear backlash from the magazine motor pinion shoved too tightly against the gear on the magazine.

On these machines there is a bit of compromise between the tight gear mating needed for accurate indexing and backlash. This gets a bit worse as the motor bearing wears and becomes sloppy.

Both DC motors should be taken apart, cleaned out and lubed at which time you can check the brushes.

Hi
The record playing display can be adjusted. There are two small grub screws which can be loosened to aid adjustment
