1952/53 Grundig by Charles Eames?

by rmchen » Thu Jul 29, 2010 12:18 am

Does anyone know whether or not the mid-century designer, Charles Eames, ever designed a Grundig Majestic stereo console? One exactly like my father's sold recently on eBay. The title of the listing implied that the console was designed by Eames. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've seen lot of electronics for sale called "Eames Era". I know who Charlie Eames is but just because something was designed at the same time as he was designing stuff, means nothing to me. As far as if he designed anything for Grundig, I highly doubt it. They, and most German manufacturers, did a great job all by themselves.

Gregg, thanks for the information. I was looking for any evidence that would either confirm or refute the claim by the seller on eBay. I also heard back from the Eames family. The family members say that Charles never did any work for Grundig. Mystery solved.
