Please help with a Grundig-Majestic

Ok... so I went from being SUPER excited about a Grundig-Majestic I just got to being pretty irritated. Here's the deal, I bought this at an estate sale, and the guy swore UP & DOWN that the speakers went with the stereo.. it was such a madhouse that (stupid buyer that I am), I didn't bother to check. Got the whole thing home, and while the stereo sounds AMAZING in of itself, the records play better than cd's etc... the speakers SO CLEARLY do not go with it! So now I'm thinking I wayyyyyyy overpaid for the stereo (I prob wouldn't even have bought it, but I totally loved the speakers/next to the stereo). Anyhoo, what can I do about the speakers? How much are they worth? How much is the stereo worth?
Stereo is a Majestic 7015
Speakers are 6768
