Magnavox Auto-sonic - micromatic player - Help please

by zscioli » Tue Nov 22, 2011 9:30 pm

Hey there,
I recently was given a Magnavox Auto-sonic with a micromatic player in it.
I am brand new to this forum and am looking for help on an issue:
( I apologize ahead of time on incorrect verbiage, and references)

Only one side of the units speakers work, the other side does not work.
With that said here is what i know so far:

The side where the speakers are not working has no damage at all, everything seems fully intact and in order. There is no partial noise coming out , that side is completely silent.

Here are the stats off the unit on the record player:
Serial # 06939
Part# 523456-21
ref # 6502
Model # 603-18-02
Off the Unit itself the serial/model#? is 2ST631

this is not mine, but this is the exact player
http://www.shedradios.com/2st631.html

Also I know that this player takes the EV 158 cartridge, but there is nothing but two wires where the cartridge goes, does anyone know what is missing to attach a new cartridge when i buy one?

thanks for your time, any help is appreciated!
Zach :D

If it has a radio, does it work on both sides? there should be 3 or 4 wires connected to the cartridge RED Left, WHITE right, and BLACK & GREEN Negative. Try touching the wire that is off the red or the white if u get a hum reconnect them to the cartridge. I hope that works for you, Let me know

Magnavox did not use the standard color codes. I have that changer, and the wire colors were brown, red, white, and white.
