Rockola 464 free play question: how do i disable free play?!

Hey all,
So, this a question about how i can disable the free play rigged in this jukebox that i got.

I recently have gotten a ROCK-O-LA 464 from my neighbor. It did not function upon receiving it, but with some intuition and a service manual I have been able to get it running. The jukebox sounds great, but with one exception. It was rigged for free-play before I got it, and due to this (I am assuming) the "make a selection" light is always on and the bigger issue is that the write-in carriage runs constantly, even while a record is being played, and this produces loud hum from that motor, not to mention the annoying clack of it constantly running. The carriage operates fine and all during the selection phase, but it just wont stop running!

Plus, after fifteen or so minutes of the juke being idle, the write-in carriage motor seems to overheat and shut off, rendering the whole Juke inoperable, which is not good. I would like the credit system to function on coins and dollars again like it used to.

So, down to the point, what I am wondering is how to disable this free play?
What are the ways that this model could have been rigged for free play in the first place?
Or is the constant running of the write-in carriage even have to do with free play at all or may just be a bad stop relay or something???
I just want to return the credit system to its original operation to get it to be quiet!

Thank you for any reply or advice you can give!

Hi
The constant free play might because a previous owner has removed the reset pawl and spring in the credit unit, refer to the manual so see if the part is missing from your credit unit. Re the write in arm constantly operating, haven't come accross that before, but maybe the write in relay is getting stuck (located on power supply) and causing this to happen or possibly the latch switch under the keyboard in not opening at the end of selection. When a selection has been located the stop relay should brake the write in motor through the current limiting lamp, hence the flash of light you will see in the power supply. Does it happen when you turn on the machine or just after you have made a selection.
Usually you would see the write in arm operating constantly if it can't locate the selection that was made usually down to dirty slip rings on the wobble plate, no harm to clean them and checking wiring and contact point on the write in arm

I know the latch under the keyboard is functioning perfectly. The jukebox accepts a selection and catalogs it perfectly.

..the write-in carriage is constantly running from the second the jukebox is powered on and does not ever stop. it brakes fine when it comes across a selection to catalog, but keeps running after that and even when all selections that have been made are cataloged.
