That sounds great! What makes it custom? Did you use something other than mica for the diaphragm?

Along this line, I once replaced the conventional #2 sound box gaskets with beads of silicone caulk -- the non-hardening GE type, not Dap -- to reset the original mica diaphragm. It took a lot of trial and error to adjust the needle-bar screws so there would be no blasting or rattle, but the end result was amazing. I tried it out on my VV-4-3 (Consolette) using an adapter, and it rivaled the Orthophonic sound box in terms of mid-range and "upper bass". The the upper range was expanded considerably.

I'm glad you liked it. It's a fiberglass resin impregnated rice paper diaphragm with a polystyrene stiffener, like the one I use in my Edison Disc, sized to fit the #2. I changed the thumbnail on YouTube so you can get a better idea. I tried to post a picture of it here, but it's more trouble than its worth.
